Sisu was found by a community member in Pinole. The homeowner's dog chased away a mother cat who took one baby with her but left Sisu behind. The family contacted animal services and were told that they should leave the kitten in the grass and hopefully the mother would come back for it. If animal services were to come for the 3 week old kitten, they would euthanize her.
The family put the kitten in a shoebox with a warm blanket and kept a close eye on her throughout the afternoon. As it began to get dark and cold, the kitten started to cry and the family became concerned. They began looking for someone to help and stumbled upon Starfish. We headed out in the middle of the night to pick up the kitten in need. We named her, Sisu, as in the last dragon because she was the only kitten in her litter that we took in. Luckily, we had a nursing mom at the time and were able to give Sisu to her surrogate mother, Philomena, to be raised in a foster home. Sisu grew up with two kitten brothers, Huck & Finn, who have also been adopted through TSPP.
