Ikaika ("Icky" for short) came to us from a sister rescue group when he became suddenly very ill. His siblings passed away from the same symptoms that Icky was displaying and his caretaker needed help getting him better. It was discovered that Icky was suffering a severe case of coccidia. Coccidia is a parasite that is not uncommon in cats, but in very young kittens, it can be fatal. Icky's diarrhea was so severe that he had lost half of his body weight and was severely dehydrated. His treatment required intensive nursing care for two weeks time. At first, we were unsure if he would pull through, but with the persistence of our medical team and Ikaika's strength, he did! He is now a happy, healthy kitten, although small for his age. He enjoys playing with his kitten friend, Zelda (also available), and being held. Icky is a special boy looking for a special home. He will not have any lasting effects from his kittenhood illness and his parasites have been eradicated.
